About The Team

Andy Wang – Admin, Site Owner, Retired Chef

Hi, and welcome to Knives Sensei!

My name is Andy Wang, a retired chef.

Me and my strategic partner, David, will be your guides here.

We set this site up with only one purpose.

It’s to help you choose the best knives for your own needs.

Whether it’s to cut the perfect slices of meat, or to chop down vegetables with ease, or to cut your bread with a breeze, or to go out with your favorite outdoor activities.

I studied at the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC when I discovered my hidden interest in cooking.

And I went on to finish the course with a pretty good degree.

After graduated, I used to work at the City Vineyard restaurant in NYC.

I worked there for 5 years from 2013 to 2018 before deciding to take a break and created this very own site of mine.

The lovely view from my old workplace

I have culinary training and knowledge in a number of cuisines including Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese.

And seafood is definitely one of my favorites!

Throughout my career, I’ve used a lot of knives to cook many different dishes for my customers.

So I definitely know a bit here and there about the topic of cooking and using knives for kitchen tasks.

And now, I want to share my knowledge and passion with people like you.

I hope you find my site and my content helpful.

If you have something to tell me, feel free to contact me, and I will get back to you asap.

Have a nice day.

Andy Wang.

David Strong – Ex-Marine & Knife Expert

Hi, this is David, and I’m an ex-marine.

I used to fight and train in Iraq, so I’ve gathered a lot of hands-on experience with all kinds of weapons.

Among all, combat and tactical knives are definitely my favorite ones.

I met Andy not too long ago.

And when I knew he had a website about knives, I asked to join and share my expertise and passion for great knives with him as well.

I will be your guide when it comes to outdoor, tactical, and combat knives.

They definitely are not “cute”.

But I can guarantee you that they’re not boring!

So, I hope that you will find my posts interesting.

See you around the corner, soldier.

Capt. David Strong.
